The Community Mission Project
Food. Faith. Hope. Healing
This mission is where all the pieces of my story come together: my 10 year career background in mental health and addictions, my passion for cooking, my own experience with addiction, and my relationship with God. Everything that shaped me has brought me to this calling.
Mission Statement
The Mission Project exists to bring warmth, nourishment, and faith to those who are hurting. Its purpose is to remind people living on the streets, especially those battling addiction and mental health struggles, that they are seen, valued, and loved. Through homemade meals, heartfelt conversation, and the Gospel message of grace, this mission connects body and soul through acts of compassion.
My Story and Calling
My love for cooking began in my Jamaican home, where food was more than sustenance. It was a language of love.
My mother was an extraordinary cook whose meals took time, patience, and soul. Even while facing addiction and depression, her kitchen always carried a spirit of care and connection.
That same bond, formed through food, became something I shared deeply with Kyle. He went to culinary school to become a chef, and together we found comfort and creativity in the kitchen. After losing him to addiction and suicide, I came to see food and mental health as two parts of the same story. They both represent resilience, memory, and the human need for love and understanding.
Fourteen years ago, God delivered me from my own addiction. Through that journey, I learned what true healing means. Today, this mission is my way of sharing that love and grace, meeting people where they are, feeding them with care, listening to their stories, and reminding them that hope still lives through faith in Christ.
What I Do
This mission is about more than feeding people. It is about showing them that there is hope because they matter, deserve dignity, respect, and love.
Fresh, handmade meals with love: My specialty is creating waffle sandwiches made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Each meal is prepared with thought and care, meant to be health-conscious but taste like comfort food. When I worked in homeless shelters, I noticed how stale and lifeless the food often was, and that memory stayed with me. Every meal I make is a reminder that people are worth something special and made fresh every single time.
Connection through compassion: I spend time with people living on the streets, hearing their stories, offering kindness, and sharing the message that God’s love extends to everyone, no matter where they are in life.
Faith through action: Every outreach begins with prayer and often ends the same way. I serve not only food that nourishes the body but also words that nourish the spirit. It is faith in motion, one meal, one conversation, one moment at a time.
Seasonal outreach projects: During the winter and holiday seasons, I prepare meals, and words of encouragement cards with Scripture to bring light and comfort during the hardest times of the year.
Core Values
Faith: This work is built upon faith in Jesus Christ, whose love heals, restores, and renews.
Dignity: Every person deserves respect and care, regardless of their circumstance.
Connection: Meals become moments of connection where stories are shared, hope is rekindled, and faith is strengthened.
Healing: Healing begins when body, mind, and spirit are nourished together.
Love: Love is the foundation of it all, love that cooks, listens, prays, and serves.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Mission Project is an independent Christian outreach initiative. While not yet a formal charity, currently, all funds are out of pocket to carry out this mission. If anyone decides to donate in the future, all donations and efforts will go directly towards supplies, equipment, community meals, and outreach support.
The meals I make are centered around my specialty waffle sandwiches, created with care and fresh ingredients. I wanted to do something different from the typical food often served in shelters when I worked there, which I remember seeing was mostly stale and lacking sustenance. Everything I make is made to show respect and love with food that is fresh, flavourful, and thoughtfully prepared to remind people that they deserve quality and kindness in every bite.
Absolutely not. The meals and compassion are for everyone, regardless of faith or background. The Gospel is offered through love, never pressure.
I currently run this outreach on my own, but prayers, encouragement, and support are always deeply valued. As the mission grows, volunteers will be welcomed.
After years of working in mental health and addictions, reflecting on my own recovery from addiction, I felt called by God to use food, one of my biggest creative passions, as a way to connect, serve, and share the message of hope that saved my life.
